Feel Good Resources

I’m more skeptical about this tapping thing than he is about my new theory, but I do it anyway because I’ve begun to trust him. And I’m shocked when I actually begin to feel grounded and safe. By the time we’re done, I’m me again, firmly back in my body, no longer drifting away into an uncertain sky.

Curious about the tapping in Other People’s Things? Great! Here’s a little bit of info to get you started.

Tapping has been shown to decrease cortisol (a stress hormone) production, re-organize the brain to dramatically reduce anxiety and trauma reactions, reduce pain, and so much more! But WHAT is it, and HOW does it work? Here’s the intro from my beloved The Tapping Solution website:

Tapping is also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). It is a powerful holistic healing technique that resolves a range of issues. It's based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.
The basic Tapping technique requires you to focus on a negative emotion at hand. This can be a fear, a worry, a bad memory, or any unresolved problem. You do this while maintaining your mental focus on this issue. Then you use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times on 9 specific meridian points of the body.
Tapping on these meridian endpoints, while addressing the root cause of distress, sends a calming signal to the brain. This allows you to feel relaxed and in control.

Explore tapping with me in this little video that shows me using tapping to work through an everyday case of irritation and annoyance:

I'm a fanatical ambassador for EFT tapping – and that's because this stuff really does work - for small problems like the one above, and for much bigger things like trauma and chronic pain. I was using it with my counseling clients years ago, when it was still considered sort of experimental and a little “woo woo” – because it worked! As of today, there has been so much clinical research done that even skeptics are having to admit its efficacy for chronic pain relief, anxiety reduction, healing from trauma, and more.

If you're interested in the research, in getting started tapping, or even finding a tapping practitioner who can work with you, check out my favorite tapping resources:

1. The Tapping Solution App. There is a free version, which will give you the basics, but I have a paid subscription. I love how there are tapping meditations for pretty much any situation – not just lowering unwelcome emotional reactions, but  also proactive practices like better sleep, increasing motivation and boosting creativity.

2. The Tapping Solution Website: an excellent source for basic information and how to's, along with links to the app, research links, and more. Click here to check it out.

3. EFT Universe: want to try EFT with a trained practitioner? Check out EFT Universe here. They also offer training for people who want to learn how to do EFT for themselves as well as professionally. And they have ALL the research.

If you try tapping — I’d love to hear how it works out for you! Drop me an email and tell me all about it.

Coming soon…a guided meditation for you.
